Kromozomlar b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fck ve \u015fekline g\u00f6re s\u0131n\u0131fland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. B\u00fcy\u00fckten k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fc\u011fe do\u011fru numaraland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. Bu \u015fekilde s\u0131n\u0131fland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131p s\u0131ralanan kromozomlar karyotipi olu\u015fturur. Her h\u00fccre her kromozomdan iki kopye bulundurur. Bu iki kopyeden biri annemizden, di\u011feri babam\u0131zdan gelmektedir. H\u00fccrede 23 kromozom \u00e7ifti yani 46 kromozom bulunur.     Genlerimiz 4 harfli bir alfabe (adenin, guanin, cytosin, thymine) ve 3 harfli toplam 64 kelime (codon) yard\u0131m\u0131yla yaz\u0131lan bir romana benzetilebilir. 64 kelime yard\u0131m\u0131yla toplam 20 kadar c\u00fcmle (aminoasit) ve bu c\u00fcmlelerin \u00e7e\u015fitli kar\u0131\u015f\u0131mlar\u0131 ile paragraflar (proteinler) olu\u015fturulur.
